At REA, our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors . We are committed to maintaining a zero-fatality workplace and continuously reducing Lost Time Incident (LTI) rates. We ensure a safe working environment across all operations through rigorous safety policies, ongoing training, and proactive risk management. We ensure that our commitment to address occupational health and safety is implemented across our operations, including employees at any level and all contractors, suppliers, and local communities.
To uphold the highest safety standards, REA is continuously working towards strengthening its safety framework:
We adhere to ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) and SMK3 (Indonesian Health & Safety Standard).
Risk Prevention & Employee Safety Training To embed a culture of safety, REA implements comprehensive training programmes to ensure employees can perform tasks safely and efficiently.
REA has a structured accident reporting and investigation system to identify the root causes of incidents and prevent recurrence.
A more inclusive and structured process ensures that all workplace accidents are analysed and necessary corrective actions are implemented.
In 2024, the group recorded 955 work incident cases (2023: 1,367) and 651 working days lost (2023: 1,256), as the LTIFR in 2024 was 11.84 compared with 17.9 in 2023. The decrease in incidents and working days lost are can be attributed to continuous safety training, stricter enforcement of safety protocols, and increased supervision, particularly in high-risk areas such as tall palm harvesting. Additionally, the successful implementation of SMK3, including rigorous safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions, has played a crucial role in identifying and mitigating potential hazards before incidents occur.
